A lot of clients I talk to are under the impression that if they don’t have swarming termites in their home they don’t have a termite problem. Nothing could be farther from the truth.
See termites swarm typically in the spring time because of temperature and moisture conditions. Spring time temperatures were normal but as you know the rain fall was way off. Just look at Lake Jackson, in my 41 Years I’ve only seen it lower once before.
Because of the lack of moisture, reproductive termites or Swarmers didn’t appear like they normally do every spring. Termite swarmers aren’t the actual termites that do the damage; it’s the worker termites that get in your walls and baseboards eating away 24 hours 7 days a week.
Worker termites are white in color and blind. They don’t see because they spend their entire life inside the wood they are consuming. Soldier termites guard and protect the worker termites as they go about their daily task of consuming the wood inside your home. So just because the weather wasn’t ideal for termites to swarm by no means does it mean that they aren’t present inside your home.
The only way to know for sure is to have a thorough inspection of your entire property by a professional termite company. Even if termites aren’t in your home they could be just outside in a tree stump say from the hurricanes a few years ago, just waiting to gain entrance and damage your valuable home.
