I’ve been going out to the homes and businesses of my clients for the last few months. I may have already been to yours. I enjoy meeting as many of you as I can. I know I’ve had some clients for over 15 years who have never met me in person. It’s nice to be able to put a name with a face.

The main topic that keeps coming up over and over during my visits was how annoyed everyone is with the mosquitoes that are plaguing Central Florida.
I guess we’ve been quite fortunate these last couple of years with the ongoing drought, and drastically below average rainfall. Looks like it is safe to say the drought is no longer our primary concern. Tropical storm Fay has put us in an exceedingly wet condition.
As you know mosquitoes need lots of water in order to breed and continue their life cycle. Because we have received so much water lately, the mosquitoes are here to stay. So, it’s back to life as it used to be a couple of years ago, with the aggravation and health risks of this insect.
Our clients who seem to be the most concerned are those who have children, pets or who spend quality time outside. (Or those who want to) We all know how much we enjoy sharing our backyard with mosquitoes.
I’ve created a couple of new services to address the needs of these clients and their very real concerns about mosquitoes.
The first service is a basic property treatment done with some of the power equipment we use on a daily basis. Since mosquitoes spend the great majority of their life resting on the side of buildings and in plants and trees this is where the main focus of this treatment is directed. The results of these treatments have varied but we have been able to greatly reduce populations from 3-6 weeks.
The second option is a Mosquito Misting System. This system is an automatic system that once installed applies a fine mist through nozzles installed around your property. The system is fully automatic and refilled by Heartland Exterminating.
This misting system is the latest and greatest in mosquito control devices. It also has a remote control so you, the homeowner, can have more insect control during the months when the mosquitoes are the worst.

Hopefully one of these services will ease some of the pain and suffering going on out there with the massive mosquito population we’re all having to deal with.
